unforgettable,
together.

Recognized.
Remembered.
Created together.

We want to gradually develop a distinctive artistic identity for FlyByNyte — something people recognize, remember, and want to experience.

As a Burning Man theme camp and part of the Black Rock City airport community, our creative journey grows from the people, shared effort, and imagination around us.

Julie’s Rainbow Tree of Life in 2026 gives us a meaningful starting point. For 2027, we’re exploring how individual talents and collective creativity could come together.

Three directions.
One shared exploration.

Complementary ways to think about what we could create — not competing projects or approved designs.

BE RECOGNIZABLE

The Landmark

A visual signature that people can find, recognize, and associate with FlyByNyte — with room to evolve over the years.

Ideas we discussed

  • A recurring sculpture or artistic anchor
  • Aviation or owl-inspired imagery
  • Lighting that helps people find us

What would make someone say,
“That’s FlyByNyte”?

BE INTERACTIVE

The Experience

Art people can become part of: something playful, immersive, and memorable that invites more than a passing glance.

Ideas we discussed

  • Swings, rocking chairs, and oversized objects
  • A photo moment with the visitor in the artwork
  • Playful experiences inspired by coffee

What could visitors experience
rather than simply look at?

BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER

The Gathering Place

A welcoming place where people want to stay, talk, and connect — including visitors arriving early or passing through at night.

Ideas we discussed

  • Art woven into the communal coffee area
  • Tea, ambient music, and a warm welcome
  • A shared source of warmth, possibly within a spaceship-inspired piece

What would make people feel
they belong here?

Visuals are abstract editorial illustrations. No installation has been selected. Any fire-related idea would need a separate review of feasibility, applicable requirements, and staffing.

First conversation.
Open possibilities.

This journal will grow with the project, keeping the ideas, progress, and next steps in one place.

SESSION HELD

Session 01 — First Explorations

We shared what inspired us in 2026 and explored visual identity, visitor experiences, and what we could create together.

Three directions emerged in the debrief: The Landmark, The Experience, and The Gathering Place.

Still open

The final concept, budget, artistic responsibilities, and build team have not been decided.

LATE OCTOBER · PROPOSEDDATE TO BE SET

Session 02 — Explore Further

A follow-up was suggested to revisit the ideas, hear more perspectives, and give the promising directions greater definition.

NOVEMBER · POSSIBLE NEXT STEP

From Ideas to a Project Group

If the direction becomes clearer, identify the skills and people needed to help develop it. No team or individual commitments are confirmed.

Keep the ideas moving.
Keep the conversation open.

This first note is for everyone in our Art & Creativity group, including those who couldn’t join Session 01. Your perspective can help shape the next conversation.
